Reid Jakelski.

Reid runs Old Mountain Carpentry, a custom woodworking and home improvement shop based in Pleasant Hills, Maryland. He's been doing carpentry, cabinetry, and finish work in northern Maryland for years.

The shop handles the full range — start-to-finish kitchen renovations, custom built-ins, finish trim, stairs, doors, custom furniture, and repair-and-refinish work on existing pieces. Reid also takes on smaller jobs that most contractors won't: handyman work, diagnostic problem-solving, and the in-between projects no one else has time for.

Every project gets the same approach: a clear scope, an honest estimate, careful planning, and the standard practices that have made carpentry last for centuries. If a job isn't a good fit for the shop, Reid will tell you straight and point you to someone who can do it well.

What you can expect

  1. Plans on paper. Hand drawings or working sketches before any wood is cut.
  2. An honest estimate. A clear written scope. If something changes, you hear about it before it happens.
  3. Solid stock and proper joinery. Real wood. No MDF where it doesn't belong.
  4. A clean site. Floors covered, dust contained, end-of-day broom-out.
  5. A finished punch list. The list is mine, not yours. Done means done.
